A man "angered" by Manchester United's defeat to Barcelona in the final of the Champions League killed four people when he drove a minibus into a crowd celebrating the Spanish side's victory.Ten people were also injured in the incident in the town of Ogbo, where the driver was subsequently arrested.Both Manchester United and Barcelona have a large fan base across the African continent, with millions tuning in to watch European football on a weekly basis.Meanwhile, more than 100 people were arrested in Barcelona city center in the early hours of Thursday morning following the Catalan team's 2-0 victory in Rome in the final of Europe's top club competition.

Storm lashes Bangladesh and India

A cyclone sweeping across eastern India and Bangladesh has killed at least 15 people and prompted the rescue of hundreds of thousands. Cyclone "Aila" flattened mud houses, uprooted trees and disrupted travel throughout West Bengal state.Soldiers and border guards were helping rescue stranded residents.Flooding and tidal surges hit coastal areas, with strong winds forcing the closure of the main ports of Chittagong and Mongla in Bangladesh.About 400,000 people were moved from five districts to cyclone shelters and schools before the storm hit.But a further 300,000 people were stranded in coastal villages.

Malvinder Singh steps down

Malvinder Mohan Singh has stepped down as chairman, managing director and chief executive of India's largest pharmaceutical company, Ranbaxy Laboratories, which was acquired last year by Japan's Daiichi Sankyo.Atul Sobti, the current chief operating officer, has been appointed chief executive and managing director, while Tsutomu Une, the company's non-executive director, will serve as its chairman.The Singh family had earned some Rs.100 billion ($2.4 billion) from selling their 34.82 percent stake last June in the pharmaceutical major, valued at around Rs.100 billion.Soon after the stake sale mid-2008, Singh had said he would invest in Religare and Fortis, the family's financial service and healthcare companies.The change in management at the company announced Sunday comes at a time when it has reported a net loss of Rs.1,044.8 crore ($204 million) for 2008 against a net profit of Rs.617.7 crore in the previous year.

Sophia Rudyeva may be banned

Sophia Rudyeva, winner of the Miss Russia beauty pageant held in Moscow may be banned from participating in the "Miss World" contest after explicit nude pictures started being shown in internet. This has lead to widespread speculation that she might not be allowed to contest representing Russia. Rudyeva, 18, is a professional model from St. Petersburg centre. Sophia Rudyeva is said to have done a photo shoot with the magazine when she was in her teen and even her family was not aware of it is being said.

"Terminator Salvation" review

Terminator Salvation is the fourth film in the Terminator series and stars Christian Bale as John Connor and Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright, a cyborg who believes he is human. It also introduces a young version of the first film's hero, Kyle Reese, played by Anton Yelchin, and depicts the origins of the T-800 Model 101 Terminator, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Roland Kickinger. Being both a sequel and a prequel to the previous films, Salvation, set in 2018, focuses on the war between humanity and Skynet. It abandons the format of previous entries in the series, which only revolved around Terminators and various other characters traveling through time to either kill or protect John Connor before the events of Judgment Day unfold.

US sailors captures 17 pirates

On Thursday a team of specialized American sailors captured 17 suspected pirates who attacked an Egyptian merchant ship in the waters off Yemen.The sailors from the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg also seized eight assault rifles and a rocket-propelled-grenade launcher when they boarded the pirates' vessel Wednesday, said the navy's Bahrain-based 5th Fleet in a statement.The Gettysburg launched the operation with the help of the Korean Destroyer ROKS Munmu the Great after the pirates fired at the Egyptian-flagged Motor Vessel Amira about 75 kilometers south of Yemen's Al-Mukalla port. Both ships dispatched helicopters during the mission.The Gulf of Aden is one of the world's most important shipping lanes, connecting Europe and Asia via the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. It is used by 20,000 ships a year and has become the world's hot spot for pirate attacks.
