FINA throws its support behind Phelps

Record-setting Olympic champion Michael Phelps Wednesday once again acknowledged his poor judgment over a controversial picture purportedly showing him smoking marijuana.Despite the potentially damaging episode, world swimming's governing body FINA is backing Phelps, while the U.S. Olympic Committee has contacted the embattled swimmer to help him avoid repeating a similar episode.A photograph of Phelps was reported to have been taken in November at a party at the University of South Carolina and was published by British newspaper News of the World.

Phelps wins second gold

Michael Phelps collected his second gold medal and stay on course for a possible eight on an incredible record-breaking day at the Water Cube on Monday.Phelps joined his American team mates Garret Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones and Jason Lezak to smash the 4x100 meters freestyle relay after a breathtaking struggle with France that threatened to sink his chances of breaking Mark Spitz' record of seven golds at a single Olympics.
